Welcome to Trezor.io/start
Trezor.io/start is the official onboarding page for setting up your Trezor hardware wallet. This guide will help you safely initialize your device, connect it to Trezor Suite, and ensure your cryptocurrencies remain under your full control.
Step 1: Download and Install Trezor Suite
Begin by downloading Trezor Suite, the official desktop and web application for managing your wallet. Always download only from the official Trezor website to prevent phishing or malware attacks.
- Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux
- Web app version for Chrome and Firefox
- Automatic firmware updates and security patches
Once downloaded, launch the app and connect your Trezor device via the USB cable included in your package.
Step 2: Initialize Your Trezor Wallet
When you connect your device, Trezor Suite will prompt you to initialize your wallet. Follow the guided process to create a new wallet or recover an existing one using your recovery seed.
- Select “Create a new wallet” or “Recover wallet”.
- Set a unique and secure PIN directly on your device.
- Confirm all operations using your Trezor’s built-in display.
This setup ensures your private keys never leave the device, keeping your crypto protected from online threats.
Step 3: Backup Your Recovery Seed
Your recovery seed is a list of 12, 18, or 24 words generated by your Trezor device. This seed allows you to restore your wallet in case of loss, theft, or damage. Write it down carefully and store it offline in a secure location.
- Never store your seed digitally or take a photo of it.
- Do not share it with anyone — not even Trezor support.
- Consider using a fireproof or metal seed backup for extra protection.
Step 4: Manage Your Crypto Safely
Once setup is complete, you can access your wallet through Trezor Suite to manage your cryptocurrencies. Every transaction is verified on your Trezor device screen before approval, ensuring maximum protection.
- Send and receive cryptocurrency securely.
- Monitor balances across multiple wallets.
- Use the built-in exchange feature for safe swaps.
Step 5: Keep Your Device Secure
Maintaining good security habits ensures your digital assets remain protected:
- Regularly update your firmware and Trezor Suite.
- Only use official Trezor links and support channels.
- Enable a passphrase for enhanced wallet protection.
- Store your device and recovery card separately.
